Designing a stylish contemporary home as an infill structure that sits behind an existing house is hard enough as it is. But in the case of Refresh* Architecture also had to face the added challenge of working with a site that had as much as 6 meters of inclination.
Designed by Jacobsen Arquitetura the private residence is spread across two different floors with the lower level half buried underground to ensure that the overall structure is not too tall and imposing.
Timber and stone are pretty much all you will find here (an obvious welcome change from the concrete and polished surfaces that surround us constantly) and custom lighting solutions add to the dreamy soothing ambiance. Sitting on a lot that makes the most of the mesmerizing views on offer every room here seems like a portal into the untouched landscape of.
But it is much more than the color scheme that catches your eye here with hickory quartz countertops and raw metal adding textural contrast and beauty to the polished interior. Moroccan-inspired tiles in the bathroom and a partition in the living area bring pattern while a cool sliding barn door makes a bold visual statement in the bedroom.
Timber and stone become the two defining elements of the serene home both on the outside and inside with décor that perfectly complements the rustic vibe blending into the backdrop. Comfort is combined with aesthetics seamlessly at every turn with features such as the stone fireplaces in living area bedroom bathrooms and even the patio; exposed timber beams; and fabulous lighting creating an inviting ambiance. Masterfully framed views become a part of the home’s narrative at every turn and one stays constantly connected with the majestic peaks creek and dreamy walkways outside.
Accent pillows lighting and carefully selected décor pieces bring in bright color and lively pattern to an otherwise muted setting where aesthetics and function converge with urban refinement. The black and yellow metallic exterior of the Gardenhouse adds to this sleek suave image of a home where adversity was turned into opportunity!
Designed by Basiches Arquitetos it is the stunning contemporary pavilion that is the true showstopper here as it acts as a lovely transitional zone between the home that already sits on the lot and a fabulous backyard complete with an infinity pool and ample greenery.
