Designed by Shaun Lockyer Architects this Aussie home uses greying timber and a host of natural finishes to achieve this unique ambiance.
The first floor is where the new family area sits with its rejigged floor plan that provides more space for the living area moves the powder room away from the kitchen and gives the interior a more open and spacious appeal.
Of course turning an old and unused tire shop into an edgy industrial and elegant home does sound like a planet-friendly makeover showcasing the many benefits of adaptive reuse. But the Tire Shop Project goes way beyond that by simply merging the residence of designers Mark Fekete and Viviana de Loera and their workspace into one.
While most architects would view this as a major hindrance to the design of a new home the innovative folks at Refresh* used it to their advantage by placing the bedrooms and master suite on the lower level of the sparkling new residence.
But the fabulous in crafted by Mark+Vivi showcases the true meaning of the word ‘sustainable’ as it turns a 1920s tire shop into a modern live/work studio that also serves as an exhibition gallery for creative local contemporary art and architecture!
But both the architects at Elding Oscarson and the homeowners of this stunning home dubbed felt that this desire to explore the edge of life was subdued and overpowered in the last few decades. Hence they decided to fashion a brilliant modern home in an attempt to rekindle this lost flair for life at this scenic Swedish harbor!
The new pavilion sits next to an older counterpart that has been revamped to house a fabulous spa zone while the more traditional home in the backdrop was slightly tweaked to fit into the more modern narrative. With a fair-faced concrete structure timber-clad interior and elegant walkways all around this chic and relaxing hub is the new nerve center of the house.
